Mikael Lustig made to look foolish in derogatory Ibrox claim

Mikael Lustig is the very definition of a player who saw what was coming and ran away from Rangers, more specifically, Ryan Kent.

The Sweden international made a habit of going off injured in Old Firm derbies when he no longer had to face the likes of Dalcio or Carlos Pena – Ryan Kent, frequently, tearing him apart.

Mikael Lustig has taken to slagging off Rangers from afar in the comfort of a show at the OVO Hydro for their fans, using a derogatory term to describe Ibrox, as reported by The Sun.

The phrase isn’t fit for printing on Rangers News but it pandered to the losest common denominator.

Of course, their fans lapped it up, however Mikael, let’s have a closer look, if you want to compare grounds.

How Mikael Lustig has embarrassed himself with Ibrox slander

UEFA reconfigured how they graded stadia some time ago and the highest classification required to host the Europa League to Champions League final is “elite”.

There are 27 in total across Europe and Ibrox, unsurprisingly makes it onto the list.

Where though, is Parkhead?

Nowhere to be seen is the short answer.

Ibrox might be smaller in capacity but, in terms of quality of construction, facilities, fan experience and atmosphere, it clearly comes out on top.

If it didn’t, it wouldn’t be on this list and Parkhead would. It’s that simple.

Annoyingly, the SFA won’t let Ibrox be used for UEFA tournaments or finals and puts Hampden forward instead, why? Because if they did, it would annoy our noisy neighbours.

Ibrox Stadium is a much admired venue with broadcasters like Talksport’s Adrian Durham almost overwhelmed during our run to the Europa League final last season such was the atmosphere and experience.

It’s one thing to celebrate dominating domestic football in his time at Celtic but, coming from a player like Mikael Lustig with a home ground like Parkhead, having a go at Ibrox?

He should probably have sat this one out.
