Former Rangers star Michael Mols has responded brilliantly to a club post on Instagram following GvB’s first match as manager.
The Gers triumphed 2-0 over Sparta Prague at Ibrox, with Alfredo Morelos bagging a brace and Allan McGregor producing some heroics at the other end.

With Brondby losing to Lyon in Denmark, the result was enough for Rangers to secure second place in the group with one game to spare.
It was the perfect start to GvB’s time in the Ibrox hot seat and after the game, Rangers posted a series of photos of him celebrating, captioning it: “The boss enjoyed his first match as Rangers manager.”
The post proved to be popular, racking up over 25k likes, and GvB’s former Gers and Netherlands teammate Mols left a reply.
“Not only Gio enjoyed it!” he wrote, alongside wink face, football and blue heart emojis.

Mols was a very popular player during his five-year stint at Rangers between 1999 and 2004 and he feels a real affinity with the club.
There were some rumours that he could be returning to Ibrox as part of GvB’s coaching staff, but that now looks to be out of the question, with the identity of the next addition to the backroom team seemingly already confirmed.
