Michael Beale puts Celtic mouthpiece Chris Sutton firmly in his place

Rangers manager Michael Beale has put ex-Celtic mouthpiece Chris Sutton firmly in his place after comments about that controversial Partick Thistle goal.

Outspoken pundit Chris Sutton has made a career out of saying controversial things in the Scottish press and has a strong history of goading Rangers and deluding Celtic supporters over referees.

This time, Sutton couldn’t resist trying to take something away from Rangers by claiming Michael Beale wouldn’t have told his team to hand Celtic a goal had Malik Tillman scored in similar circumstances as he did against Partick Thistle.

In case you’ve been under a rock, Beale ordered Rangers to let Scott Tiffoney score after Bayern loanee Tillman nabbed the ball off a Partick defender to put the Ibrox side 2-1 up, with the Jags originally set to return the ball to the Ibrox side after the ball was kicked out of play due to an injury or the American.

Chris Sutton – who can’t resist bringing Rangers or Scottish football down at every opportunity it seems – would then suggest Rangers, quite obviously, wouldn’t have done the same for Celtic.

Michael Beale slaughters Chris Sutton

Rangers boss Michael Beale wasn’t having it as he was pressed on the comments and whilst he stopped short of naming Sutton, it’s clear the reported £6m ex-Chelsea striker was the subject of his utter assassination.

No-one can argue that Michael Beale has Chris Sutton’s number and it’s clear the Rangers boss is bored of the Parkhead mouthpiece being taken seriously.

“Listen, there are pundits that are comedy acts,” said Beale.

“There are ex-players who are comedy acts. I don’t even want to answer that question because they are comedy acts and they are there to create intrigue.

“They don’t speak about the betterment of the game. They don’t help our game at all. All they do is bring it back down to the gutter.

“There are a lot of good things we can speak about in our game at the moment, at other clubs as much as at my club. Why is that where they go? At the end of the day, we don’t know, do we?

“If I had allowed that goal to stand and we had gone through in the cup like that, what would that have done for Malik? What would that have said about me and our club?

“I think that day worked out about as well as it could have done when that situation happened. You see when people [react like] that I think we need to wise up in this country. There are people out there creating intrigue for intrigue reasons and those people, in my opinion, we need to mute them and quickly.

“Growing up, I was a fan of Chelsea. So there is one pundit around here who is the worst ever player to play for Chelsea. That is why I won’t mention his name because I try to forget him.”

When Chris Sutton isn’t being humiliated by Michael Beale, he’s being called a hypocrite for comments he’s recently made on referees.
