Rangers manager Michael Beale has now publicly said that he is keen for Malik Tillman to return to Ibrox for next season.

Beale has told BBC Sport that Tillman has left his Rangers squad and has gone back to his parent club Bayern Munich.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has an injury, so the USA international has returned to Bayern.

And Beale hopes that Tillman returns to Rangers for next season as well.

The American youngster joined Rangers on loan from Bayern in the summer of 2022.

The playmaker made 22 starts and six substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season.

Tillman scored 10 goals and gave four assists in those games.

The youngster also made four starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League, scored one goal in two Scottish Cup ties, and played in three Scottish League Cup matches.

Michael Beale wants Malik Tillman back at Rangers

Beale said about Tillman: “He has a hamstring injury, he’s gone back to Bayern just for them to have a look as well and he’s had his scan and everything.

“It’s a hugely sad ending to his season for him, because he’s obviously a fine young player and he’s performed well for the club this season.”

The Rangers boss added: “Me and Malik are in a great place on a personal level. I think he’s been brilliant for the club. I think he’s been brilliant for me in my time here.

“I think he’s a player with a really high ceiling – as high a ceiling as anyone that I’ve worked with in my time at Rangers.

“We said we would park the conversation until the middle of May because there’s a lot around it. The two clubs have been talking back and forth and there’s agreements between them, but the most important person is Malik.”

Uncertainty

We do not think that the future of Malik Tillman will be sorted anytime soon.

Yes, Rangers manager Michael Beale wants the youngster back at Ibrox.

And we can all see why.

After all, the USA international has been one of the best players for Rangers this season.

However, Bayern Munich are a big club who will aim to win the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League next season.

Thomas Tuchel is now the new head coach of Bayern, and the former Chelsea boss could decide to give Tillman a chance in preseason and then take it from there.
