Michael Beale has Ange running scared, numbers don’t lie for Rangers

A picture paints a thousand words and one in particular shows that Rangers shouldn’t be worried about Ange Postecoglu under Michael Beale.

This might seem like a brave statement to make given that the Australian is coasting to a treble, however, there is more to it than that.

An analysis of Old Firm managers and their respective points per game throws up an interesting result with Rangers proving that Michael Beale can be the answer. to Ange Postecoglu, if he doesn’t jump ship.

The first thing that sticks out on the chart provide by Andrew Caskie on Twitter is how Alex McLeish ever managed to win as many trophies as he did given how dominant Martin O’Neil was in his time as Celtic manager.

Big Eck was having his squad ripped apart and having to make do with bargain basement deals whilst O’Neill had a blank chequebook.

What also stands out though is that it has only been Giovanni van Bronckhorst, since Ange Postecoglu arrived, who hasn’t won more points than the man rumoured to be heading to Spurs.

Steven Gerrard was top of the league and comfortable when he went to Aston Villa and Michael Beale has closed the gap since he arrived, but for a stupid late goal versus Hearts and individual Old Firm errors it might have been even closer.

With the players already signed and those that are imminent, the changes at executive level and the upturn in form, Rangers already look like a much improved team.

Celtic should be going into next season on a high but, if they have to change manager, and we have our new signings in place for pre-season training, that 3-0 win at Ibrox could be a sign of things to come.
