As Rangers appoint Michael Beale as manager, the English coach will have an immediate chance of Scottish Cup revenge against St Johnstone.
The Perthshire club landed a monumental blow on Rangers in season 20/21 when Michael Beale was an assistant at the club when they knocked the Ibrox side out of the Scottish Cup.
Callum Davidson’s side would then go on to lift a cup double that season in a monumental feat at McDiarmid Park that would’ve stuck in the craw of the then Rangers coaching staff.
The Gers put in a lacklustre display at Ibrox on the night, with a late St Johnstone equaliser resulting in a 1-1 draw and the Saints eventually beating the Gers on penalties in Govan.

Rangers are the current holders of the competition having won it last season but Michael Beale will be well aware of St Johnstone as the club draw their Premiership rivals in the competition’s fourth round.
The Gers have also got some making up to do to their supporters from this season too, with the club’s recent 2-1 defeat at McDiarmid Park one of the final nails in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s managerial coffin at Ibrox.
Rangers will return to McDiarmid Park and St Johnstone for the Scottish Cup clash on the weekend of January 21st.
Michael Beale has also been expressing his delight after being appointed as Rangers manager following days of negotiations with QPR.
‘It is fantastic to be back and to see everybody this morning, there are some new faces but some people that I know really well so it is great to see everyone,” said Michael Beale [Rangers].
”I am hugely proud, it is a wonderful, wonderful football club, it is an institution. For everyone that works here it is a huge privilege, but to be the manager of this football club, that is extremely special.
“Some wonderful people have sat in this chair prior to me, and I am hugely proud to be the person sat here now.”
Meanwhile, QPR have released a statement following Michael Beale’s exit.
