Micah Richards singled out Rangers star Lawrence Shankland ahead of Scotland’s World Cup clash against Brazil.

Shankland started the first game of the tournament for Steve Clarke’s side, but was benched in the 1-0 loss against Morocco.

Despite chasing the game and withdrawing Che Adams in the second half, Clarke decided to bring on Lyndon Dykes instead of the Light Blues forward.

Micah Richards expects Rangers’ Lawrence Shankland to bag the winner against Brazil

Richards, who is known for his high energy and over-the-top punditry, expects Shankland to score the winning goal against Brazil.

Scotland find themselves in a respectable position going into the game, knowing that a loss by a goal, too, should be enough for them to qualify for the Round of 32.

However, regardless of what their expectations are, they are expected to sit in a low block and hope to score against the Samba Boys against the run of play.

Derek McInnes will be aiming to win the title!

The former Manchester City defender expects Shankland to be the difference-maker between the two sides in Miami.

He believes that the 30-year-old will score a “big” header that will see his side secure an upset in Miami.

Richards said on The Rest is Football Podcast on Netflix: “Shankland header. Big header. Shankland’s going to do it. They’re going to be in a low block. It’s going to be difficult [for Brazil to break Scotland down].”

Will Shankland be handed a start by Steve Clarke?

The million-dollar question undoubtedly is whether Clarke will hand Shankland the start against Brazil on Wednesday.

He opted to start Adams and Shankland in two against Haiti and then the former started all by himself in the Morocco game.

On both occasions, the Torino striker struggled in front of goal and did not have the clinical ability or the set-piece threat that is needed.

Shankland, on the other hand, has that, and he is used to playing in a side that relies on set pieces and counter-attacks.

While it may not mean anything, the Rangers striker was the one who did the media duties ahead of the game against Brazil.

It could be an indicator that Clarke has a trick up his sleeve, and he could ask Shankland to lead the line against Brazil.
