During this afternoon’s press conference, covered by the official Rangers Twitter account, Gary McAllister previewed Rangers’ Scottish Cup tie with Kilmarnock.
The Gers should be full of confidence heading into the game on the back of four straight victories.

The most recent of which, against Aberdeen, will have been the most satisfying.
However, it’s clear that no one at Ibrox wants to rely solely on the league for silverware.
Scottish Cup success is also a priority. To advance deeper into the competition, they must do something they failed to do at the end of last month.
Defeat Steve Clarke’s Killie on their own turf.

It seems quite obvious now, that Rangers are at their best with their original shape based around wide players and a central striker, rather than a diamond with two up top.
However, should Alfredo Morelos miss the Scottish Cup tie through suspension, McAllister hinted that the plan may change.
“We have various shapes, teams and personnel in mind if Alfredo is not available”, said the assistant manager, as quoted by the Rangers Twitter account.
“In an ideal world, you can play one shape and one team for 40 games, but to think you can do that nowadays across a full season is so wrong.”

Clearly, Rangers are keen to be as flexible as possible.
Yet, surely they would do well not to stray too far from what worked on Wednesday, whether Morelos is available or not.
