In terms of link between the players and the fans, it doesn’t get much better than Andy Halliday.

He’s a life-long blue nose, and everybody knows it.

One of the first questions he fielded, sitting alongside his manager in yesterday’s press conference, reflected that.

The journalist asked: “You’ve obviously been a Rangers fan your entire life, can you just sum up the enormity of this one game and what it means for the players, and the club as a whole?”

In response, Halliday couldn’t have put it any better.

“Yeah, it’s massive. I think its testament to how we’ve performed in Europe this season.”

“I think, if you’d offered us 90 minutes to go through to the last 32 we’d have took it”, he explained, before stating that as the group’s underdogs, self-believe has been key to the team’s results.

There is no denying that the stalwart is right. Tonight is huge for Rangers, as it represents the incredible progression the club has made over the last six years.

A win and progression to the knockout stages would show that the good times really are back.

In order to get there, the players are going to have to demonstrate once more, the self-belief that seemed to desert them in Dundee, this weekend.

This Rangers team love being underdogs and they’re sure to be be up for the fight.
