Rangers have been linked with a high-profile move for Martin Skrtel as reports suggested he’s jetted into Glasgow for talks with ex-Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard [Daily Record].
Skrtel has been routinely linked to Ibrox ever since Rangers boss Gerrard took over at Ibrox.

This is the third transfer window in a row Rangers have been linked with the defender, and there’s been a mixed response from supporters.
There are some who are very happy with the links to the 34-year-old.

Other’s have been less enthusiastic about the prospect of signing the centre half.
The biggest complaints concern the player’s age, his prospective wages and the fact he could keep other players out of the squad.
Not to mention the fact many claims he didn’t set the heather alight in Turkey, with one fan saying he had a “nightmare”.
Others are suspicious there’s nothing in the links.

Whatever the case, Steven Gerrard has made it clear that Rangers are on the hunt for another centre-half [Evening Times].
With Connor Goldson only being 26 and Nikola Katic, 22, and George Edmundson, 21, also lacking defensive experience, Rangers may be on the hunt for a wise old head at the back.

If the deal is right for Rangers and Skrtel, it could be an astute signing.
But the club may not want to risk shelling out a considerable amount on a contract for a player who has no resale value.
Would you take Skrtel at Ibrox?
