Mark Wilson raves about Rangers linked Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes

Pundit, Mark Wilson, has raved about Rangers linked striker Lyndon Dykes, naming him as Player of the Season so far at Livingston, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

Both Wilson and Alex Rae were tasked with naming the standout individuals from each club, as well as a Team of the Season so far.

Rae plucked for three Gers in his XI and had major praise for an Ibrox-linked goalkeeper.

Former Celtic player Wilson’s side was heavily dominated by Hoops players, but he had plenty of good things to say about Livi’s Dykes, who was linked with a move to Rangers on Deadline Day of the January window [Scottish Sun].

“I think for obvious reasons he’s been a breath of fresh air this year,” said Wilson, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“He’s showed how much of a handful he can be against Celtic and Rangers, he’s scored some important goals for Livi and he’s got so much more to his game than just goals.”

Dykes has been in Scottish football since 2016, but this has certainly been his breakout season.

He’s netted nine league goals and twelve in all competitions, which represents a decent if not totally spectacular return.

As Wilson says, though, there’s more to Dykes’ game than just finishing. His physicality and pace stretch defences, and he enjoys the big occasion, performing well against both Old Firm sides.

A tally of 10 assists in all competitions [Transfermarkt] reflects how important he is for linking up attacks and at just 24, he’s not yet the finished article.

At times this season the Gers have lacked a physical presence up front, and they could do much worse than reigniting interest in Dykes come the summer.
