“It was just sort of sitting and waiting and thinking of exactly what we wanted to do with the window and then pressing the go button and contacting Bournemouth,” explains Allen.
“It’s not something that’s come about in the last week or so, it’s something we’ve certainly been thinking about it. It’s just come to fruition in the last week or so.”

Bournemouth very co-operative

Mark Allen also praised the cooperation of Bournemouth throughout the entire process. Transfers are never simple, particularly ones which concern big names like Defoe.
The ex-Man City Academy Head has praised their role in making the move happen.
“Bournemouth have been absolutely fantastic in this process,” explains Allen. “They’ve been fantastic in terms of their support. Obviously, they have to do what’s best for Bournemouth Football Club, but we indicated and it went from there.”

Going on, Allen discussed the impact Defoe could have at Rangers, saying that “his goal-scoring record goes before him” and that he doesn’t need qualification.
The Englishman also added that Defoe couldn’t wait to get started banging them in for the blue of Rangers.
Rangers confirmed the signing of Defoe last night much to the delight of the fans. The Englishman has made close to 500 Premier League appearances, scoring over 160 goals.
