Whenever there’s a positive story about a Rangers player, it appears that Celtic fans are never too far away.

The Parkhead support is regularly goaded for the so-called “obsession” they have with their Ibrox counterparts.

And after the Daily Record shared a story concerning comments made about Rangers new boy Brandon Barker, some of the Celtic fanbase very much lived up to their reputation.

The Record had released a positive story about Brandon Barker – someone who was coincidentally on Celtic’s leaked player transfer list in the summer – earlier in the week.

It concerned comments made to Goal.com by Liverpool wonderkid Trent Alexander-Arnold in which he described Barker as an “unbelievable player”.

A nice story, and an excitable one which followed on from Barker’s fine finish in the 3-1 win over Livingston at the weekend.

But far from Celtic fans focusing their attentions and energies on their own club and players, just look at some of the responses to the Record’s link.

These are merely a drop in the option.

Absolutely fantastic, sensational stuff. It is incredible how one little positive story about Rangers – the largest proportion of the Record’s potential readership – has triggered so many of our rivals.

Barker is a product of the Manchester City youth academy and following his performance at the weekend, there’s real hope he can push on at Ibrox.
