Last week, the Scottish Sun reported that Rangers had agreed to loan Glenn Middleton to EFL League One side Doncaster Rovers.
That report was then seemingly corroborated by their manager, Grant McCann. He claimed that he was ‘100% sure’ a loan deal would go through for a player who featured in the Europa League last season [Doncaster Free Press].

However, the move has been thrown into doubt.
That’s because McCann’s own future with Donny is now uncertain. Managerless Championship club, Hull City, have made a formal approach to speak to the former Northern Ireland international [BBC Sport].
It’s said that the 39-year-old is yet to decide whether or not to enter into talks. The Hull job would be a big one to turn down, though.
Move now off?
You would imagine that until this situation is resolved, Middleton’s move will be on standby.

Should McCann opt to stay, then it would likely go ahead as planned. Yet, if he decides to head to the Tigers, Middleton could be left searching for a different temporary home, or even staying to fight for his place at Ibrox. Theoretically, he could also eventually follow McCann to the KCOM Stadium.
The talented Middleton is bound to be relieved that he hadn’t yet completed his move down south before Hull’s interest in McCann emerged.
Otherwise, he may have found himself in a similar situation to that which Ziggy Gordon experienced recently.
Earlier this month, the former Hamilton defender reportedly rejected other offers in order to move to Dinamo Bucharest [Daily Record]. Yet, farcically, before he made it across to Romania, their manager was sacked, voiding his big transfer.
