Manager who snubbed Rangers ready to avoid England job too

Rangers were linked with former Chelsea boss Graham Potter and he now seems ready to ignore the chance to become England manager.

The Gers set the rumour mill into overdrive earlier this month, sacking Michael Beale after a disappointing start to the season.

We now know that Rangers ended up going for Philippe Clement, presenting him as the new Ibrox boss earlier this week.

Clement was just one of a host of names linked with the Rangers job though, with some falling by the wayside very early in the process…

Graham Potter backed away from Rangers race

Rumours about Rangers fancying a move for ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter had emerged even before Beale was sacked.

The Sun reported in September that Potter had rejected an approach from Rangers with Beale struggling.

The Daily Record added earlier this month that Potter had decided to reject any notion of a move to Ibrox.

Potter didn’t want to be considered for the Rangers job, seemingly believing that a move to Glasgow just wasn’t right for him.

Rangers turned to Clement, and it seems that Potter is ready to give England the cold shoulder too…

Potter not keen on waiting for England job

The Telegraph report that Potter is an option for The FA if they need to replace Gareth Southgate after Euro 2024 next summer.

However, Potter actually prefers to return to club management this season and isn’t planning to wait until next summer for the England job.

That’s interesting as some wondered whether Potter was backing away from Rangers in order to wait for the England job,

Instead, it just seems that Potter just didn’t think that Rangers was the best move for him at that moment, but could move elsewhere.

Rangers and England are two huge jobs to snub, so let’s see what Potter’s big plan is as he looks to revive his reputation after leaving Chelsea.
