The manager of English League One Blackpool has admitted that he’s unaware of any reported bid the Seasiders are said to have made for Rangers-linked striker Kyle Joseph.
Neil Critchley also admitted that even if the Bloomfield Road side retained an interest in the 19-year-old Wigan Athletic striker there are “far bigger clubs” than Blackpool in the hunt.
Critchley’s comments come after journalist Alan Nixon had claimed that Blackpool had put forward a better offer for the player than both Premier League Tottenham and Rangers or Celtic.
This was after Nixon had also claimed that Joseph turned down the offer a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer in search of playing time with the Latics.
So far this season, the 19-year-old forward has netting five goals and laid on one assist in 14 matches at the DW Stadium.
Here’s what Critchley had to say on Blackpool’s reported interest in the player who is out of contract in the summer.
“I’m not sure how some things come about, I really don’t. That’s news to me, I’ve got to be honest,” said Critchley [Blackpool Gazette].
“We speak about a lot of players and we look at a lot of players, but Kyle Joseph has been linked with Celtic, Rangers and Tottenham. He’s got a whole host of big clubs looking at him.
“He’s a good player and, while we’re looking (for new players), it’s not right for me to speak about Kyle Joseph because he’s got far bigger clubs looking at him.
“He’s done well so far for Wigan this season, he’s a young player with lots of potential. But I’m not sure how people speculate and throw our name into that hat.”

Striker Joseph isn’t the only Wigan Athletic youngster said to be interesting the powers that be at Ibrox either.
The Gers have also been linked with a move for a distinctively red-haired Latics midfielder who is already turning heads at the age of 17.
