The former Ibrox assistant is back in Glasgow to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst after the Dutch coach was sacked amid the World Cup break with the Gers nine points behind in the Premiership

But whilst there are plenty of salty voices down south following Beale’s decision to quit the Rs, the show must go on in West London and they are stepping up their hunt for a replacement.
Amongst the options includes former Premier League boss Chris Wilder, who was only last week being tenuously linked to the then-vacant job at Ibrox [Daily Record].
Now, the Sun are reporting that the former Middlesbrough manager – who has been out of work since leaving the Riverside in October – wants the job at QPR.
Chris Wilder named amongst QPR frontrunners
Chris Wilder joins the likes of Neil Critchley – the man who replaced Michael Beale as Steven Gerrard’s number two at Aston Villa – and Scott Parker as amongst the most prominent names mentioned.
Rangers announced the appointment of their 18th permanent manager in Michael Beale last week with the coach joining the Gers despite turning down a Premier League move to Wolves earlier in the season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the manager also explained the decision amid much furore regarding the move.
“It was a really difficult situation. I was extremely happy at QPR, really happy there in terms of my professional life,” said Michael Beale.
“Les Ferdinand was outstanding with me. The four owners, I’ve spoken to them on the phone in the last 24 hours, and they really have been good owners.
“They understand the reasons. There are family and football reasons that have come to this decision.
“There’s a difference in the size of the clubs it’s fair to say, there was more in the background that the previous opportunity with a Premier League team.”
As Chris Wilder apparently looks towards QPR, Rangers boss Michael Beale has been discussing those players who might not want to be at Ibrox.
