Bayern Munich talent Malik Tillman could yet make the grade with the Bundesliga champions, despite strong links to a permanent move with Rangers.

The Ibrox side have the American international, 20, on loan until the end of the season with Malik already a firm favourite with the Rangers faithful.

But whilst everyone at Rangers is clear they want to make a deal for Malik Tillman permanent, the situation certainly appears to be in Bayern Munich’s court.

Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson was praised for negotiating the deal in the summer, with the Gers striking a reported £5m option-to-buy deal which also sees the German giants retain a buy-back.

Malik Tillman tipped to one day make the grade at Bayern

With all this in mind, Bayern youth coach Danny Galm has been talking up the prospects of Malik Tillman, who he reckons has all the attributes to make the grade in Germany.

“We had some players like Jamal Musiala or Thomas Muller, who established themselves in the team right away,” said Tillman [Daily Record].

“The most important thing is that the boys all need regular minutes of play. If they don’t play upstairs in the first team straight away, there’s still the possibility of making it.

“Look at Philipp Lahm – we sent him to Stuttgart, David Alaba went to Hoffenheim, or Toni Kroos, who was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen. They all played at a top level before returning to us.

“We currently have a few loan players like that. Malik Tillman at Rangers for example or Gabriel Vidovic at Vitesse Arnhem and Bright Arrey-Mbi at Hannover. They could all follow a similar path.

“We can certainly point to success going down that route. All the guys are very talented, have their qualities and sporting abilities. From a certain level, however, the head coach – Julian Nagelsmann – ultimately decides where their journey is going.

“They need a little bit of luck, which is always necessary and the right attitude to make it and the ones I have mentioned have that.”

If anything, this conversation proves that Malik Tillman is highly thought of in Germany with Rangers fans hoping that before he makes it at Bayern, the attacking midfielder wins trophies at Ibrox.

Tillman has made 35 appearances for Rangers this season, scoring eight goals and laying on five assists.

Meanwhile, the lates comments around John Souttar bring into question the Gers transfer policy.
