Just days ago, former England international Danny Mills told Football Insider that the Liverpool connections within the Gers’ coaching staff could give the Glasgow club an advantage in the race to snap up the 21-year-old.
However, his comments have now proven to be wide of the mark, with Kane linking up with Grant McCann at the KCOM Stadium, instead.
McCann took the talented midfielder on loan at Doncaster Rovers last season and claimed then that Rangers had been interested in a permanent deal for him [The Star].
“I enjoyed working under the gaffer last season,” Kane told Hullcitytigers.com. “I feel as though I did well for the team and I cannot wait to work with him again.”
“For him to want me here with him at Hull shows that he has trust in me as a footballer. I’m thankful for that and the opportunity that both he and this Club have given me.”
A move for Kane may now be out of the question, but it still remains to be seen which areas of the Gers squad will be strengthened during this window.
The midfield is currently well-stocked but with the likes of Greg Docherty and Andy King expected to leave the club imminently [Daily Record], back-up options could soon be thin on the ground.
