Liverpool fans backing Rangers boss for Premier League Hall of Fame

Liverpool fans have leapt to the defence of Rangers manager Steven Gerrard after rival fans disregarded the notion the legendary Anfield midfielder could join the Premier League Hall of Fame.

England’s Premier footballing competition is set to induct their first two members of the Hall of Fame in March, with Gerrard a name in contention for the prize.

But with rival fans berating the notion Stevie G might be in the running, Liverpool fans are defending the record of the world famous centre mid.

Gerrard made 504 appearances for Liverpool in the English Premier League, scoring 121 times and assisting a further 70 [Transfermarkt].

He would captain England during his time with Liverpool and is widely considered as one of the modern game’s greats.

But – as fans of the midfielder’s rivals love to point out – Gerrard never actually won the English Premier League with his beloved Liverpool.

For many, there are names well above Gerrard as the first two names to be included in a Premier League Hall of Fame.

And they may well be right.

But for many Liverpool fans, ignoring the influence of one of the competition’s greatest ever players does, not only the former Anfield captain, but the division, a disservice:

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has been Rangers manager since May 2018 and has transformed the Ibrox club’s chances on the field.

The manager at Ibrox will still be smarting after managing to secure a spot in the Europa League last 16 against Braga in Portugal.
