Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has once again reiterated his commitment to the cause at Ibrox in an honest and frank interview with BT Sport.
The Liverpool legend has been heavily linked with the Anfield hotseat in recent months with Jurgen Klopp’s side struggling this season after two successful campaigns.

The German brought a sixth European Cup/Champions League to Merseyside whilst he also broke a 30-year Premier League hoodoo by delivering the club’s long-awaited 19th league title.
Klopp would also distance himself from reports which claimed he could be tempted to replace Joachim Low in the Germany job, saying he wasn’t “available” and fully intended to honour his contract at Liverpool [BBC Sport].
This runs out in 2024 – the same summer as Steven Gerrard’s current deal ends at Ibrox.
Gerrard stressed to ITN last week that Liverpool fans “love” the ex-Dortmund boss and no-one wants him to go anywhere.
Whilst he described the Anfield job as a “dream” he also told Rangers fans “let’s go for more” as Gerrard settles in in Glasgow.
Giving more perspective into the timeframe he expects to be Rangers boss – even if particularly vague – Gerrard would tell BT Sport that Gers fans have nothing to worry about in the “short term”.
“I think I’ve learned with experience never to try predict the future,” said Gerrard.
“I’m happy in this job – I’m proud to be the Rangers manager.
“I’ve had to sacrifice a lot in the three years. Family issues is the big thing for me. The support I’ve had from my family has been fantastic, but I also have to respect them and where I’m from.
“In the short-term, the Rangers fans have got nothing to worry about.”
Despite this, nonsense stories continue to crop up in the press with pundits and ex-players giving their two cents on what everyone already knows it an inevitability.
Brazilian legend Rivaldo was even out this week suggesting he’d take Ianis Hagi with him when he moves to Liverpool.
Then there’s the continuing suggestion – born from English footballing arrogance – that Gerrard might go – or needs to go – elsewhere in the Premier League before he gets the Liverpool job.
Paul Merson was out only this week suggesting the likes of Newcastle United or Crystal Palace would interest the Rangers gaffer. Seriously.
But say both Klopp and Gerrard were to go the distance to 2024 before Gerrard returned to Anfield, that’s another three-and-a-bit seasons.

Are we to have another three and a half years of this already boring, persistent coverage? Because I started yawning about six months ago.
If Rangers fans are delighted that Gerrard has reiterated his commitment to the club – just wait to hear what he and has backroom staff had to say about European football.
