Leverkusen star told Rangers fans he’ll “have a whisky” if Germans win

Leverkusen star Lukas Hradecky has said he ran into Rangers fans in Portugal and joked about drawing the club in the last-16 of the Europa League.

Leverkusen beat Rangers’ group rivals Porto to reach this stage of the competition and were in Portugal at the same time as the Ibrox club’s support travelled for the challenge of Braga.

Describing the fans as “good fun” goalkeeper Hradecky also said he joked with the bluenoses about having a whisky to celebrate should Leverkusen draw Rangers and beat them in this round.

“Growing up I was interested in Rangers and Celtic, and it’s a game I always noticed,” said Hradecky [Daily Record].

“I know the fans are so passionate. I’m looking forward to experiencing it myself. I’ve never been to Scotland before but these are the stadiums you want to play in.

“It was funny. There were actually some Rangers fans in our hotel when we were in Porto. They were over for the Braga game and we were making jokes about how we would get drawn together in this round.

“I told them I’d be coming to Glasgow to win and then having a whisky to celebrate.”

Finnish international Hradecky has also spoken about his relationship with international teammate and Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

The talented Bundesliga stopper revealed that he’s already gotten the lowdown when it comes to the atmosphere at Ibrox from Kamara but that he hasn’t spoken to him about the match just yet.

It means that the goalie is suitably excited for the trip to Ibrox but is well aware of what to expect.

“I know Glen very well. I’ve not sent him a message yet but I’ll get on to Whatsapp to wind him up!” said Hradecky.

“He’s a good guy and a very good player. We’ve obviously talked a lot about him being at Rangers when we’ve been on international duty.

“Glen’s told me all about the atmosphere at Ibrox. He’s said it’s incredible, especially in the derby and in the European games.

“He didn’t need to tell me, to be honest, as I know all about Rangers.”

Hradecky and Kamara made history together with Finland by helping the Scandinavian country qualify for Euro 2020, their first-ever international tournament.
