Bayer Leverkusen manager, Peter Bosz, has sent a classy message to the Rangers fans following his side’s 3-1 first-leg win at Ibrox on Thursday night, as quoted by Bayer 04 Leverkusen Twitter.

The German club went 2-0 up before striking a killer blow in the final stages after George Edmundson had pulled one back for the hosts.

The result leaves Rangers teetering on the brink of elimination from the Europa League.

It has been a mighty impressive run to this point, though, and in reaching the last 16, they’ve come up against a mighty strong opponent.

Leverkusen have lost just once since the turn of the year and showed their class both in possession and in front of goal in Govan.

Their manager, Peter Bosz, was gracious in victory, too, praising the Rangers supporters for creating a memorable atmosphere.

“First of all, I would like to say thank you for allowing us to play in this atmosphere,” he is quoted as saying after the game.

“As far as the match goes, I’m satisfied with the 3-1…even though we did play too slowly going forward.”

It was a classy initial comment from the Dutchman, who, on a night when several European fixtures were played behind closed doors, was clearly impressed by the efforts of the Rangers fans.

It just goes to show that far from only being a special venue for supporters of the club, Ibrox and the atmosphere created there is highly regarded in European football.

The Gers may be set to exit at this stage, but the club is certainly back on the map, with the efforts of the players and supporters throughout the competition not going unnoticed elsewhere.
