Leigh Griffiths gives Rangers team their teamtalk ahead of Celtic clash

Rangers fans aren’t exactly the biggest fans of Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths and it’s fair to say that the feeling is mutual.

The Celtic striker had a spell off the pitch but it’s done little to dampen the frosty relationship between the player and the Ibrox club.

Looking ahead to next week’s Old Firm at Ibrox, the Celtic striker stoked the Rangers fire in comments which must act as motivation for the Gers players.

“I was born for Ibrox. I have never been beaten there with Celtic,” said Griffiths [Four Four Two].

“I started there twice and scored twice in two victories.

“I am pretty sure the manager will know (my Ibrox record) but we have loads of players champing at the bit to play in a game of that magnitude.

“Whether the manager starts me or keeps me on the bench to come on as an impact player, I will be ready to go.

“I am not really sure (why I thrive), it is the same at Tynecastle as well.

“It seems to be a place that people hate (me) and I thrive under that pressure.

“Derby games are always games you want to play in and we will take it as it comes next week.”

The Ibrox players have got to read the smugness of these comments and use them as motivation to wipe the smile off Griffiths’ face when he comes to the southside next week.

It’s also an essential match for restoring some of the pride at Ibrox and the club’s players need to step up and be counted.

Griffiths should be dreading coming to Ibrox and it’s up to these Rangers players to make sure that is the case next week.
