Leeds Utd star Kemar Roofe's "head has been turned" by Rangers interest

Reported Rangers target Kemar Roofe has had his head turned by the interest from Ibrox, according to former Leeds Utd star Noel Whelan [Football Insider].
Whelan claims that the promise of a “huge contract offer” may well have swayed Roofe on a decision about his future.
That’s despite earlier reports suggesting Rangers wouldn’t pounce for Roofe unless they sell Alfredo Morelos first.

The Leeds United forward was the Yorkshire club’s top scorer last season and was originally said to be a £5m target for Rangers if El Bufalo leaves [Scottish Sun].
But Steven Gerrard has reiterated Morelos won’t be leaving unless Rangers receive “a really big offer” for the striker.
So whilst Whelan might be bemoaning Roofe’s interest in a move to Ibrox, and Leeds foolishness in letting his contract run down, any move could depend on Alfredo’s situation.
But with the likes of Kyle Lafferty being touted for a move out of the club [Daily Record], Rangers will still need another striking option in the squad.
If the Ibrox side were to pay Leeds Utd the reported £5m for Roofe, Steven Gerrard would certainly be expected to play him.

It’s something that would certainly be made easier by the fact Roofe can play across the front three as well as behind the striker.
But would he get the desired game time with such intense competition in the Rangers squad?
