The Daily Record reports that Leeds United have opened talks with Liverpool over the potential signing of Ryan Kent.
It’s no secret that Steven Gerrard wanted the 22-year-old back at Ibrox this summer, after a successful 2018/19 stint.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s recent dismissal of any further loans for the wide player [BBC Sport] struck a blow to that idea.

Leeds United open Kent talks with deadline looming
Now, even though the transfer window for Premier League and Championship clubs shuts on Thursday, Leeds are confident of being able to strike a permanent deal.
The Elland Road outfit have just lost a key player themselves. Kemar Roofe has joined Anderlecht in a deal said to be worth around £7 million [Leeds Live].
It’s said that that cash injection makes their pursuit of Kent more viable, though, and that Roofe’s fee could be immediately reinvested in the prospective deal.

Verdict
Clearly, it would be a blow for Rangers fans if Kent joined Leeds.
Yet, this transfer saga has rumbled on for so long that it’s time it was brought to a conclusion. Given the proximity of the English deadline, we’ll know by close of business on Thursday, whether or not the winger is a Leeds player.
If he is, then everyone at Ibrox can move on. At that stage, with a number of weeks remaining in the Scottish window, if Gerrard wants to look elsewhere for a player with creativity and pace, he has plenty of time to do so.
