Departing Lee Hodson thinks Kyle Lafferty wants to go to Rangers after he sealed the deal on a loan move to St Mirren.
Mark Warburton signed Hodson back in 2016. However, the full-back has signed a one-year loan deal with the Buddies.
However, he has claimed after joining the Paisley side that international team-mate Lafferty will want a return to Ibrox.
Rangers have so far been frustrated in their attempts to sign the Hearts striker this summer. Steven Gerrard has seen two bids booted out already for Northern Ireland’s number one front-man.

It’s widely-acknowledged that Lafferty wants the deal to go through, as he craves a return to his boyhood club.

Hodson, however, claims he knows the big striker personally and that he’ll be “dying” for the move to go ahead.
He’s a goalscorer. He’s a Rangers man through and through. I know Kyle will be dying to get back to Rangers and if that opportunity comes I know he will do well there and score goals for the club.
26-year-old Hodson’s words aren’t surprising. Lafferty has consistently left the door wide open for a return to Rangers and has never ruled out the speculation. He had a successful first spell at the club between 2008 and 2012.

Supporters have read between the lines and understand he wants the move to go ahead. However, there also appears to be a respect from the 30-year-old for Hearts’ right to a proper fee.
As for Hodson, his time at the club isn’t yet over, according to the player himself. After signing the loan deal with St Mirren, the full-back has claimed that he still has a Rangers future.
It’s one of those where it’s not nice to leave but the manager spoke to me before I left and said, ‘don’t be a stranger. Come and see your lads. You’re still a Rangers player and I want you to come in and see the lads every now and again. Pop in and say hello’. It’s nice to know that they’re going to be watching me and they still want me to be a part of things.
As Hodson starts life with the Buddies, Rangers are preparing to face Ufa in the Europa League on Thursday.
