A leaked photo has appeared to show Anderlecht forward Kemar Roofe holding up a Rangers top for press photos, suggesting a deal for the striker is done.

The former Leeds United man moved to Anderlecht for a reported £7m fee last season but injury interrupted what was a promising first season in Belgium.

Now, it appears Roofe is about to be unveiled at Rangers following a spate of reports from Belgium suggesting the move was on the verge of being completed.

The forward can play across the frontline and will provide competition to Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe for the number 9 spot.

Roofe, 27, will also be able to compete for the spots of Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi as the forward offers a versatile and deadly option in the final third.

The former Leeds star has previously admitted that he would stay in Belgium until told otherwise – but did concede his aim is to play European football.

“I will stay at Anderlecht until someone tells me otherwise,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“I don’t know whether Rangers made an offer for me. I’m happy here and my head is 100 per cent with Anderlecht.”

Roofe would become Rangers’ fifth signing of the transfer window after Ianis Hagi, Calvin Bassey, Jon McLaughlin and Leon Balogun.

The details of any Rangers deal for Roofe are not clear but it does appear he is taking press photos to be unveiled to the fans in due course.
