The latest figures, which show that thousands of people have already signed up to the MyGers membership scheme, prove that fans are stepping up to support Rangers amid a period of unprecedented uncertainty [Rangers.co.uk].

The initiative was launched at the beginning of May, with Gers managing director Stewart Robertson presenting it as a way for all supporters to get closer to the club.

A video posted to the Rangers YouTube outlined the full benefits of signing up, which include: ticketing priority, a 30-day free trial alongside discounted RangersTV subscription and access to special MyGers experiences.

It seems the initial pitch worked wonders, with 10,000 bears signing up in just three weeks.

Given that membership costs £40 for season ticket holders and £50 for non-season ticket holders, that means the initiative has already raised between £400,000 and £500,000.

An update released via the club’s website on Wednesday afternoon informed MyGers members that they could soon expect to receive their first monthly newsletter and would also gain access to a pre-order window for next season’s home kit [Rangers.co.uk].

For many, though, while the rewards will be welcome, the main reason behind signing up will have been to support the club through these trying times.

Football has been suspended since mid-March amid the global health crisis. With no fixtures expected for another several months and fans possibly shut out of stadia until the new year, these are unprecedented times for all clubs.

Plenty of supporters will be content with the fact that their membership will help to pay the bills going forward as well as possibly bolstering the transfer kitty.

Ultimately, the Rangers squad will need strengthening if silverware is to be won next season, and the first signing has already been agreed, with Ianis Hagi set to join the club on a permanent deal when the transfer window officially opens [Rangers.co.uk].
