Frank Lampard has been linked with the Rangers job on two previous occasions, when Steven Gerrard resigned and when Giovanni van Bronckhorst was relieved of his duties.

Now, it looks like being third time lucky for the former Derby, Chelsea and Everton manager as he looks to get back in the game in a competitive sense.

According to Matt Law and Sam Wallace of The Daily Telegraph, Frank Lampard is “open” to speaking to Rangers about the vacant managerial position.

Frank Lampard in Rangers job talks claim

If fans think that the appointment of Kevin Muscat would be lazy due to Celtic’s success with Ange Postecoglu, naming Lampard would be even worse.

Yes, he’s a big name, a figure in football who would command respect due to everything he has achieved in the game but, he has been a manager long enough to earn a reputation in that respect too.

Unfortunately, that reputation isn’t a particularly good one.

He achieved par with Derby County, however, at Chelsea and Everton, there was always an element of luck about successful performances.

Granted, he brought through a lot of young players at the club where he became a legend, but there was no clear style of play or philosophy.

Out of possession, his teams always seemed to struggle too.

The 45-year old spoke on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports about enjoying his time outside of management and that he was making the most of the situation with his family.

It would appear though that Frank Lampard is ready to return to the sharp edge and they don’t come much more stressful that the hot seat at Rangers.
