Kyle Lafferty spoke about how he has matured as a player since leaving Rangers.
And he’s ready to prove it against Villarreal.
The striker was speaking alongside Steven Gerrard before the big Europa League match in Spain.
The big striker is likely to start tomorrow in the absence of Alfredo Morelos and he’s hoping it’s going to be a big night for the Bears, but also for himself.
For the Lafferty, all starts with putting things right.
“(A goal) would cap off a great year for me,” said Lafferty. “Not many people get the chance to pay for Rangers once, never mind twice. Everything that went wrong before, I want to put right”

A more mature player
Kyle Lafferty also commented on becoming a more mature player since playing abroad and for Northern Ireland in major tournaments.
The striker played for Sion in Switzerland, Palermo in Italy and Norwich and Hearts in the UK prior to returning. He’s convinced these experiences have made him a better player.
“I think I have matured playing abroad and for Northern Ireland,” he said. “I feel I have come on leaps and bounds.”
Morelos and Lafferty team players
Although Lafferty will be replacing Morelos tomorrow night, he’s in no doubts how big a blow it is losing the Colombian. However, he’s ready to stand up if given the nod.
Lafferty said: “Losing Alfredo is a big blow for us. If I’m given the opportunity and a chance tomorrow, hopefully I can put it away to get us the result we want”.

Steven Gerrard also spoke on the relationship of the two players during the press conference.
He said: “They are not in competition, they are both Rangers strikers who are good team-mates who get on exceptionally well. There will be times Alfredo starts and Kyle comes into the game and times Kyle starts and Alfredo comes into the action. On other occasions, they will both play.”
Gerrard also spoke about the club’s hopes for the competition
