Kris Boyd says Rangers star could fall foul of a conspiracy

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd addressed Scotland’s Player of the Year award, in a piece for the Scottish Sun.
There are a number of possible contenders for the coveted prize.
Allan McGregor has been superb since his return to Ibrox in the summer, while the likes of James Forrest and Callum McGregor have impressed for Celtic.

However, for Boyd, there’s only one winner: Alfredo Morelos.
“For me, it’s the little Colombian who deserves the accolade”, Boyd wrote in the Scottish Sun.

“He has been my Player of the Year and is the man who should be crowned.
“Whether that happens, I’m not so sure. He has rubbed some opponents up the wrong way while there are others who simply won’t vote for him because they don’t like Rangers.
“That’s why the whole awards process is fundamentally flawed in my opinion.”

Is a conspiracy likely?

El Bufalo is a huge fan favourite at Ibrox.
However, he’s less than popular with rival fans and, it would seem, rival players.
He’s a threat to every team he turns out against and often the response is to attempt to provoke him into an act of petulance.

Unfortunately, what Boyd has predicted here is entirely plausible
You would hope that as professionals, the players will be able to look beyond the shirt the Morelos is wearing and vote purely on merit.
With 17 goals in the league and 29 in all competitions, there’s little doubt he is the outstanding candidate.
Time will tell whether or not his peers see it that way, though.
