Kris Boyd makes Patrick Stewart demand as he laments Philippe Clement’s Rangers ‘excuses’

Kris Boyd is never shy when it comes to giving his opinion on all things Rangers.

The former Ibrox striker played with the Gers under the likes of Walter Smith and knows just how important domestic dominance is to the Rangers support.

So you don’t have to tell the ex-Rangers striker just how big a deal the Scottish Cup exit to Queen’s Park is in the context of the club’s recent struggles.

Philippe Clement finds his Rangers suit jacket on a shaky peg atop Ibrox’s marble staircase and Kris Boyd has challenged the club’s leadership to explain the situation the supporters.

Kris Boyd in Philippe Clement Rangers board request

”Philippe Clement is hanging on to his job, just,” Kris Boyd told Sky Sports.

”I know that Patrick Stewart said it wasn’t a financial decision in the past when he’s spoken.

”I think right now the Rangers fans need to know, is Philippe Clement only there now because of finances?

”In terms of progression of the team, we’re not seeing that.

“In terms of improvement, there’s nothing for any Rangers fan to feel optimistic about Philippe Clement carrying Rangers forward.”

Rangers fans ‘tired’ of Philippe Clement excuses

Kris Boyd also reckons that Rangers fans are ‘fed up’ with Philippe Clement’s excuses as yet another trophy falls by the wayside.

The Belgian manager quoted a number of statistics after the match but they’ve fallen on deaf ears as Rangers supporters lick their wounds at Ibrox.

Kris Boyd claims that Philippe Clement is now under major pressure and has questioned a substantial drop in domestic standards in Glasgow.

”Ultimately Philippe Clement speaks about budgets when he’s coming up against opposition that are far superior to Rangers in Europe and obviously against Celtic,” said Boyd.

”But then if you flip it the other way, he doesn’t speak about it when they’re losing games yesterday, it’s about the chances they created.

”It’s irrelevant. Nobody cares how many chances you’ve created, how many shots you’ve had at goal. All that matters is the end result.

”I think a lot of the Rangers fans are fed up of Philippe Clement’s excuses.

”When results like this happen, you’re under major pressure.

”Philippe Clement has already had a lot of criticism and rightly so in my opinion.

”Because 13 points behind Celtic, out of the Scottish Cup to Queen’s Park at home, lost the League Cup Final to Celtic.

”Yes Rangers have qualified for the last 16 of the Europa League but domestically, at least when I was growing up, was the be all and end all.

”I don’t think that’ll ever change and Rangers right now have won three trophies out the last 43 available in Scotland. It’s not good enough.”
