Rangers icon Kris Boyd has been compared to the club’s greatest ever goalscorer as he announces his retirement from football.
The former Gers striker is the SPL’s all-time leading goalscorer and enjoyed two spells at Ibrox. As prolific as his first was, the latter is best forgotten.
And former Rangers teammate Steven Naismith thinks he deserves a mention in the same breath as Rangers and Celtic greats Ally McCoist and Henrik Larsson.
“All the way through his career, people have spoken about him not doing this or that but every goal he has scored in Scotland has been the equivalent to every other top goalscorer,” said Naismith, as quoted in the Daily Record.
“Your Larssons and McCoists. Every other top striker. His tally stacks up just as big as theirs does.
“I said for years that if you had Boydy in your team, you always had a chance to score. I always felt like that.
“Boydy’s record speaks for itself and he’ll get more credit the longer it gets after he retires.”
It’s probably the highest praise possible for a Rangers striker and shows just how valued he was by his former teammates.
