Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has criticised the club’s recruitment of attackers Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Sam Lammers.
Rangers are once again trying to find a new manager with Michael Beale giving his marching orders on Sunday night.
Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen proved to the the end for Beale, less than a year since taking the job.
Beale was backed over the summer with Rangers spending millions of pounds on new signings.
Jack Butland outside, Rangers haven’t seen enough out of those summer additions and Beale has paid the price.
Kris Boyd slams Rangers attacking recruitment
That lack of impact means many have been criticising Rangers and Beale, with Kris Boyd now joining in.
The former Gers striker has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Beale has now ‘wasted millions’ on players who look completely out of their depth in Scotland.
Boyd believes that Cyriel Dessers is a real example of that, suggesting that Rangers would have overpaid at £1million, never mind the much higher price actually paid.
Boyd then turned his attention to fellow striker Danilo, suggesting that the deal to sign him from Feyenoord was ‘utter madness’.
Sam Lammers – another attacker with history in Dutch football – didn’t escape criticism though as Boyd doesn’t think he’s up to Rangers standards either.
“Every team that’s ever been successful has had a core of players able and willing to dig deep. Yet Beale wasted millions on guys who have looked out their depth and lost from the moment they arrived,” said Boyd.
“I’m sorry, but nobody can tell me Cyriel Dessers was value for money at £1million let alone £4million. Danilo at £6m was utter madness with Sam Lammers at £2.5m no better,” he added.

New Rangers boss has to get the best out of Rangers forwards
The warning signs were certainly there with Lammers, whose form in front over goal over recent years has been dreadful.
Danilo and Dessers have scored elsewhere and may not be completely lost causes despite failing to really show their best form for the Gers.
Rangers have invested good money in these three forwards and, so far, the returns have been very limited.
Whoever Rangers bring in as the next manager simply has to get Danilo, Dessers and Lammers firing.
Rangers cannot afford for them to be like Fabio Cardoso, Eduardo Herrera and Carlos Pena – signings made by a manager who ended up being sacked, leaving those additions to become expensive misfits who quietly moved on.
