Rangers youngster Leon King has trained with the first-team ahead of the club’s Europa League clash with Standard Liege.
Rangers themselves took to Twitter to announce that King, 16, had been involved in first-team training with the crunch Euro match on the horizon.
Central defender King put pen to paper on his first pro contract at Ibrox in March amid reported interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal [Scottish Sun].
Considered a bit of a coup, the short term two-year nature of the contract suggests that the player would be seeking evidence of a pathway into the first team before committing to a longer deal.
King’s involvement in first team training shows the regard in which he is held at Ibrox and sends a message to the rest of the club’s youngsters that there is access to the top team if they commit.
The Rangers team trained at Ibrox ahead of the match with a blue sea of smiling faces standing out in the club’s training gallery.
The sight of Joe Aribo – who returned against Celtic – and Kemar Roofe – who is close to a return to the first-team – will come as a major boost to Rangers fans.
Rangers have been without the talented duo for the last period of games and Steven Gerrard will be delighted to see them back on the training field.
