Kenny Miller bagged a hat-trick for Dundee last night, as he showed Rangers what they’re missing out on after letting him go.

38-year-old Miller was ousted from Ibrox in the summer, partly due to an altercation he and former club captain Lee Wallace had with Graeme Murty, last season.

After leaving, he initially took on a player/manager role at newly promoted Livingston. Yet, once he realised that it would curtail his playing opportunities, they parted ways and he joined Dundee.

Given a two-year contract, he struggled to make an impact initially. However, last night, the veteran rolled back the years to steer the league’s bottom side to a stunning home win.

He opened the scoring in the first half with an opportunistic left-footed finish from six yards. A curling effort from outside the box, then extended their lead shortly after the interval.

After Jesse Curran’s deflected effort extended the lead to three, Miller completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute, with a near exact replica of his second goal.

In his final season at Rangers, the former Wolves and Derby man withdrew to a midfield role. Yet, last night, he showed he still retains that killer instinct and eye for goal of a top striker.

Rangers have undoubtedly improved in an attacking sense this year. However, on a night they where they drew a blank, it’s a touch ironic that a player deemed surplus to requirements, banged them in for fun.
