A leading journalist has laughed off a rumour which suggests that Rangers star Connor Goldson is a target for Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking after a rumour emerged on social media concerning the Ibrox defender and apparent interest from the Owls, Sheffield Star journalist Joe Crann was asked the question.
But for any fans panicking that the big stopper would swap a title race and European glory for Hillsborough, Crann has sarcastically shut down the rumours.
Responding to someone who tagged him in the unsubstantiated Twitter rumour, Crann states “I’m sure he’s desperate to leave a Rangers team on course for the title to join a relegation battle.”
A Sheffield Wednesday fan who covers the club for the Sheffield Star, it’s safe to assume Crann will be relatively in the know with this one.
Goldson, 28, has been a warrior for the Gers this season and one of the club’s most consistent, stand-out performers.
Playing every game for Rangers this season, Goldson is the club’s commander in chief and has taken his own game up a level in the quest for 55.
A recent report claimed that the big English centre-half is Rangers’ most valuable player with football analysts 21st Club rating the ex-Brighton man at £18m [Athletic].

For a player with huge ambitions at home and abroad, any prospective move to the likes of Sheffield Wednesday will almost certainly have to wait.
Goldson’s form has been so good this season that the big defender has also won a Player of the Month award – no prizes for guessing which month it was.
