British journalist Carl Worswick, has shed some light on Alfredo Morelos’ early career, as quoted by the Evening Times via Sport Times.
The 22-year-old has been a revelation for Rangers this season.
Under Pedro Caixinha, he was a little hit and miss. Perhaps it took him a while to fully settle.

Since Steven Gerrard’s arrival, though, he’s been banging them in for fun. 29 goals in all competitions is an excellent tally that looks set to earn him international honours this week.
Yet, things didn’t come easily for him.
“They (Morelos’ family) come from the Colombian coast up near Panama, which is a massive danger area”, said Worswick, as quoted by
the Evening Times via Sport Times.
“A lot of his coaches were saying that when he was a kid he didn’t have enough money to pay to go to school, didn’t have enough money for boots or shin pads.”
“One of the coaches saw he had a bit of talent and offered to help him out with costs. He didn’t have an easy upbringing it seems, but he seems very driven.”

Remarkable story

With so much pressure on results and performance in the modern game, the context is often lost.
It’s remarkable to hear how Morelos has carved out a career for himself. He’s still only 22, but after a stint at HJK Helsinki and nearly two full seasons with Rangers, he looks all set for a long and successful career in European club football.
He’s a hero at Ibrox because of his goals and personality. Yet, it seems like it was sheer hard work and determination that got him there in the first place.
