Outspoken talkSPORT journalist Adrian Durham has claimed he’s heard a rumour that Jack Wilshere could be heading to Premier League Arsenal amid links to Rangers.

Wilshere, 28, started his injury-plagued career with the Gunners and came through the youth ranks as one of the club’s brightest ever prospects.

But things didn’t quite work out for the player in north London – largely due to the time spent on the treatment table – and the talkSPORT host believes he has “unfinished business” with the club.

Wilshere took to Twitter to criticise West Ham following his release from the Olympic Stadium club, claiming he was underused despite being fit for the last eight months.

Durham is claiming that he’s heard the player could be about to make a return to Arsenal who’re currently being managed by ex-Rangers midfielder Mikel Arteta.

“I’ve heard a rumour that Jack Wilshere was going to go back to Arsenal,” said Durham [talkSPORT].

“I know people might scoff at it, but actually I think there’s a lot of sense there.

“He won’t be playing every week, but with a Europa League campaign, I think he’ll be well managed by Arteta.

“I think it’ll be a sentimental thing but I think it’ll be a positive thing for Jack Wilshere to go back to Arsenal and contribute.

“There’s unfinished business for Jack at Arsenal. He was meant to do something really special at Arsenal Football Club.

“If he goes back there he’s got an understanding manager who will put his arm around him and allow him that time to stay fit and to play and express himself.

“I think it could be the perfect thing for him.”

Durham’s comments come after Rangers have been heavily linked with a move for the former England international, who has played alongside Steven Gerrard for his country.

Reputable West Ham insider Ex-WHU Employee claims that Rangers have reached out to Wilshere whilst controversial journalist Nicola Schira claimed the two parties where in “advanced talks”.

However, a leading Spanish football journalist has raised doubts over the legitimacy of Nicola Schira’s multiple transfer claims over the last few weeks.
