A leading journalist working for Colombian sports media Caracol is claiming that “it is a fact” that Rangers star Alfredo Morelos will be moving to Lille in an £18m deal.
Yanjane Meneses G. originally claimed on Twitter that the deal has been struck with the Ligue 1 side with the move set to be confirmed “in the next few hours”.
The Tweet claims:
“Alfredo Morelos reached an agreement with Lille. The 24-year-old Colombian attacker will leave Rangers after 3 seasons. His signing will be confirmed in the next few hours. Around about €20,000,000
“Is this the league for the “buffalo”?”
Later the same journalist would claim the hours have been extended to sign the player but reiterated that “it is a fact” Morelos is leaving.
The Caracol journalist also claims that Morelos will meet with Lille on Friday to “define details” of the deal to take the 24-year-old striker to France.
This updated Tweet claims:
“The hours were extended, but it is a fact! Alfredo Morelos will be a new Lille player
“On Friday, a new meeting to define details with the 24-year-old attacker.”
These claims come after Scottish media rebuffed the suggestion from Colombian media that the striker had “formally requested” to leave the club after an £18m bid from Lille.
WinSportsTV journalist Pipe Sierra claimed that Morelos had asked Rangers to leave after Lille had submitted the updated offer.

But both the Glasgow Times and the Daily Record rebuffed these claims, with the Times claiming Rangers were still waiting on Lille to make their next move.
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was dropped from the club’s squad in the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock with Gers boss Steven Gerrard earlier admitting he has had his “head turned” by the transfer interest.
