There have been musings about Aberdeen captain, Graeme Shinnie, joining Rangers, for some time now. Yet, there’s nothing concrete so far.
That hasn’t deterred Gavin Berry of the Daily Record, though. He claimed during the ‘Record Rangers Podcast’, that it’s likely the 27-year-old will eventually make the high profile switch.
The tough tackling midfielder has been with Aberdeen since 2015, having started his career with Inverness Caley Thistle.
To date, he has made 136 league appearances for the Dons. All but one of those has come from the start.
That gives an indication of just how crucial he’s been for them in recent seasons.
He’s there a mainstay of the team and has helped inflict defeat upon the Gers several times this season.

‘I think there’s plenty in it’, said Berry, on the
“I think there’s a fair chance that he will end up at Rangers.”
Furthermore, he went on to draw comparisons with Ryan Jack’s controversial 2017 transfer.

“Having come out (Derek McInnes) and said there’s no way he’s (Jack) going to Rangers, he ends up signing. So, it could be a similar scenario.”
Obviously, this is just one journalists opinion. However, if this move were to materialise, it would cause uproar in Aberdeen.
Losing two captains in two years to a main rival, would be a bitter pill to swallow.
Do Rangers really need him though?
