When Jordan Rossiter arrived at Rangers back in 2016, there was hope he would forge a great career in Glasgow.
A product of Liverpool’s youth system, he had already accumulated multiple international caps at youth level and was now looking to break into the senior game.

He has shown flashes of real promise, including an excellent goal in last year’s incredible 5-5 draw with Hibs.
However, injury has blighted his time at Ibrox. According to Transfermarkt, a succession of issues ensure he has missed a staggering 94 matches in three seasons with the Gers.
In 2017, medical staff identified lower back weakness as the root of his persistent calf and hamstring issues. Yet, even after receiving specialist treatment in England, the problems persist.
While, this time around, he returned to fitness weeks ago, Steven Gerrard waited until Sunday’s match at Dundee, to reintroduce him to the fray.

It didn’t go well. Understandably, the 21-year-old was off the pace. Additionally, at 5 ft 10, he looked lightweight in the middle of the park.
Replaced after 57 minutes, he failed to take a golden opportunity afforded by his manager. Consequently, it would be a major surprise if he were involved against Rapid tonight.

Unfortunately, there comes a point when the club will cut their losses with Rossiter. Gerrard wants to give him the benefit of the doubt, but nine league appearances in three seasons, is simply not offering enough.
