Long term Rangers target Jordan Jones looks set to be on his way to Ibrox – it’s just not known if it’ll be in January or in June.

Respected journalist and source Bill Young of Rocksport Radio tweeted the news.

The journalist has all but confirmed the deal. It looks like Jones is well up for it too. The flying winger was spotted in the Rangers end against Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final.

By this point, we’ve learned not to trust a deal is done until it is announced by either party.

But if it is to go through, what are Rangers getting in Jones?

Jordan Jones a direct, tricky winger who works hard to boot

The winger is short at 5ft 8inches, but don’t let that fool you. Jones is an athletic, physical presence and enjoys tussling with defenders on the left wing.

He’s tricky and pacey and notoriously direct. He would suit Rangers direct wingplay and our eagerness to swing crosses into the box.

The three-times capped Northern Irishman is a hardworking, team player who has sacrificed a lot for Kilmarnock this season.

Jones, 24, has yet to score for Killie this season in 20 outings. Having only scored four in 41 games last season, it doesn’t look like we’ll get goals. He’s also only had one assist.

Bu Kilmarnock’s matches are generally low scoring. Could it be different for Jordan Jones at Rangers?
