Rangers midfielder John Lundstram has been snapped wearing a protective boot for an ankle injury as new signing Nicolas Raskin prepares to be thrown into the deep end.

Influential Ibrox midfielder Lundstram, 28, has been struggling with injury niggles all season long but had to go off early in the eventual 2-1 win over Ross County this weekend.

The Scouser would then be the subject of an ominous injury update from Michael Beale come the end of the game, with the Rangers boss claiming the player would be sent for a scan.

“It destabilised us today,” said Beale.

“John is really important to our structure. He was fantastic in midweek.

“He’s gone to block a shot and he’s rolled his ankle. It looks like quite a nasty one.

“We will take a scan on that and update after 24 hours.”

John Lundstram injury latest

Now, a snap has emerged of John Lundstram leaving Ibrox at the weekend with the Rangers star’s protective boot making for particularly grim viewing.

Rangers have toiled with injury all season long and the latest to John Lundstram proves that the club just can’t catch a break this season.

However, fear not Rangers fans for the club did sign reinforcements in the January window as one door potentially closes at Ibrox and another one opens.

The Gers shelled out a reported £1.75m to bring Nicolas Raskin to the club from Standard Liege and it appears the midfielder could be about to receive more involvement in the coming weeks.

With Glen Kamara and Ryan Jack also options in the position, Rangers are well-stocked, but there can be no denying it is a blow to lose the influential John Lundstram to injury.

Signed on a pre-contract deal from Sheffield United last season, Lundstram has had an up-and-down spell at Rangers but is a leader within the squad and his injury is sure to be felt.

Meanwhile, Alfredo Morelos could reportedly leave Ibrox this week.
