After watching Joe Worrall against Dundee, would you say he’s worth more than £11.5million?
If you do, it’s perhaps best you’re not a football manager. That’s because yet again he’s proving to be one of the worst defenders Rangers have had at the club in recent years.
This isn’t supposed to be an attack on the England Under-21 star. Nottingham Forest rate him, and fair play to them, but maybe that says a lot about the pressure levels between Forest and Rangers.

Burnley had a bid of £11.5million for his services rejected by Forest back in January. Rangers, at this point, will surely just be hoping to get him back down the road at some point soon. If not, then they should.
It wasn’t just a poor performance from Worrall at Dens Park today – it was atrocious. Every long ball over the top of the defence had him at sixes and sevens. Added to that, he continues to look weak in the challenge, and lacks the communication skills necessary to be a commanding defender.
Whether this is something to do with being out of his comfort zone, who knows? The fact is, however, that Worrall isn’t performing in Glasgow, and hasn’t since he made the move back in August.
If Forest want him back then drive him down
There were rumours that Forest were looking to take him back in January, which has since been calmed. Whether that’s the case or not, Rangers shouldn’t exactly be disheartened if it happens. He continues to look totally lost in the Scottish Premiership, and is struggling to deal with strikers in this division.
Against Kenny Miller this afternoon, there was only ever one winner. Miller’s movement continuously tossed the likes of Worrall and Connor Goldson around. Whilst the latter had a shocking game in his own right, Worrall has previous when it comes to these displays.

Despite making 13 appearances for Rangers this season, everyone has surely seen enough to judge him. He’s not anywhere ready for this level of pressure, and the club need strong characters to push for a title charge.
For a defender apparently rated at over £11.5million, he should be much better in every department than he’s showing this season.
He may very well turn out to be a success at Forest – here’s hoping that he is. One thing’s for sure, however, he’s nowhere near good enough for Ibrox.
