Joe Worrall will be a “leader” and won’t be “frightened of letting people know” according to Nottingham Forest legend Kenny Burns.

Speaking to Herald Sport, the two-time European Cup winner said that Worrall will be a big asset for Rangers.

Kenny said:

“He will be a leader.

“He was made captain and he has gone in and given senior players a bollocking, saying they are not good enough and not trying hard enough.

“That is the attitude of the boy and that is a great asset to have. He is an honest lad and you can’t ask for any more than that.

“He has done that at Forest and he will do that at Rangers.”

Joe Worrall may be young, but it appears he has an old head on his shoulders and is wise beyond his years.

Ibrox best place to develop for Joe

At present, Aitor Karanka has more experienced options in defence at the City Ground but Kenny Burns believes there’s nowhere better for the youngster.

He said:

“He has gone to Rangers to learn his trade because he is still a young man. But he is honest, he is willing to learn and with Steven Gerrard there he will learn and come on.

“He will learn the right things. Karanka, the manager, wouldn’t want to put him out to a Portsmouth, Notts County or Plymouth.

“He wants him to get good experience and I don’t think you can get a better experience than going up there to Rangers and playing in front of those crowds and under that pressure.”

“A great asset to have”

Joe Worrall has caught the eye of the likes of Burnley. According to Burns, Sean Dyche was prepared to pay £11m for the defender. For Burns, this is confirmation of just how good a player the 21-year-old is.

Joe will also be hoping to push Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic for a starting berth at Ibrox. Burns believes Worrall will “walk into the team” after the poor display at Parkhead. There’s no doubt the highly rated youngster will be pushing for a place and looks a solid asset at centre back.

Worrall also captained the England U21s to victory in the recent Toulon Tournament.

Rangers fans could get their first glimpse of Worrall this weekend as the Ibrox outfit take on Dundee at Ibrox.
