Joe Dodoo’s form throughout November was widely-recognised as being terrific, and now he’s swept up a couple of awards for it.

The on-loan Rangers star managed to slam home four goals throughout last month. He’s made himself one of the permanent members in Blackpool’s squad after finally making his mark.

We touched on his form on several occasions last month, and it appears he’s finally gotten some tangible recognition for it too. That’s come in the form of him winning both Player of the Month and Goal of the month awards for the Seasiders.

Dodoo’s goal that earned him the latter award was his stunning overhead kick against Accrington Stanley. He took an incredible 50% of supporter votes to take the Player of the Month award too.

It’s a big sign of progress from Dodoo, who had netted just once before November. He needs to kick on ahead of New Year, but he’s failed to score in any of his last three.

Dodoo needs to roar in Gerrard’s ear

There’s only one way back for Dodoo. He needs to become so consistent in front of goal that he would become ridiculous to ignore. He needs to pretty much replicate his November form for most months between now and the end of the season.

Even at that rate, Steven Gerrard  could still easily decide to move him on for his own players. Like it or not, a few goals over the course of one month won’t get him anywhere near Gerrard’s side.

With Dominic Solanke being linked as the prime candidate to come in during January, Dodoo would be extremely far down the pecking order. He’s scheduled to come back to Rangers at the end of the season. If Gerrard fancied him at the moment, he would simply cancel the loan and bring him back to Ibrox.

At the moment, however, Dodoo still has a lot of work to do. It’s a huge morale-booster for him to get this kind of recognition. It’s the first time he’s truly been in the spotlight in a positive fashion since arriving at Rangers.

Now, he needs to make sure he gets back on the goal-trail soon to make himself impossible to ignore. Anything less? He’s finished.
