Joe Aribo says Rangers are hungry to win games by the biggest possible margin, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
The comments come in the wake of a 5-0 hammering of Hearts at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon. Two up by half-time, it would have been easy to take the foot off the pedal.
Yet, the Gers kept pressing for more, with substitute Greg Stewart staking a claim for a start against Aberdeen with a quickfire brace in the closing stages.
Nigeria international, Aribo, says fans can expect more of that ruthlessness across the season.
“We are never going to settle in any game,” said Aribo, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “If we can get another goal then we go for it.”
“We know we need to keep pushing and try to get as many goals as we can and that’s what we will always aim to do.
“We’re happy with the performance as we knew what we had to do at the start of the game and we managed to deliver that.”
Verdict
It’ll be music to the ears of Bears that the summer signing realises pushing on for more is always required at Rangers.
Clearly, the goal difference factor brings a practical motivation for blowing teams away, too.
It’s possible but highly unlikely that the league will be decided on goal difference at the end of the season.
Yet, for however long the Old Firm stay level on points, having the better tally brings the psychological advantage of being in pole position.
With a series of tough league games on the horizon, Steven Gerrard will be focusing on points rather than scorelines, but as Aribo says, if the Gers get in a position to hammer an opposition, they’ll want to take it.
