Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has responded to claims made by his former boss at Charlton Lee Bowyer that he was making a mistake by moving to Rangers [Daily Record].

The gangly midfielder has played in Europe, in an Old Firm and earned his maiden Nigeria cap and goal since joining Rangers for a development fee of £300k in the summer.

Bowyer was naturally upset in losing his prized asset for so cheap, but Aribo is adamant that he made the right choice in coming to Glasgow.

“It was a massive achievement for me and my family, I was really pleased with the [Nigeria] call-up and just being able to get out there and play,” said Aribo, addressing the press ahead of the Betfred Cup quarter-final v Livingston.

“I feel like what comes with that, it’s good, and it shows why I came to the club and playing in competitions in Europe, it shows.

“Getting those accomplishments, it shows why I’ve come here and what I want to be doing with my career.

“The coaching staff, they help me, they speak to me daily and just help me improve off the pitch.

“You can see how big those games [Europe and Old Firm] are and I just want to be a part of it.”

Lee Bowyer’s outspoken comments clearly haven’t affected Joe Aribo who appears happy and is determined to develop at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard has also indirectly responded to Bowyer’s comments after Aribo’s performance and goal for Nigeria.

The Rangers boss assured everyone that Joe Aribo is in the “right place” at Rangers [Rangers].
